Charleene Closshey began her story with music. At just two years old, she equipped herself with the skill of studying piano. Music became a language she understood more clearly than any other during her life. As she grew, she added composer, producer, actress, and story-teller to her list of titles, making her into the multi-talented woman she is today. Now, as Closshey is only in her thirties, she’s adding the impressive title of innovator.

In 2016, Closshey starred alongside George Blagden in the indie romantic-comedy titled, No Postage Necessary. She also landed the job of producer, and used the movie to tell the story of a convicted computer hacker who steals mail while pretending to be a postman. That is, until he finds a letter of a love-sick widow who misses her late husband and tracks her down. Once he meets her, he falls in deeply in love, but also has to deal with a situation involving the FBI. Their stories come together in a tale of love and complication.

No Postage Necessary is really a story about two individuals becoming unstuck,” Closshey explains, adding that “[This film is] a romantic comedy that’s couched in a world that’s actually developing as we speak.”

Earlier this year the company behind the film, Two Roads Picture Co., announced something monumental; it was going to be the first ever movie to be screened on a blockchain platform. It will be available for purchase with cryptocurrency on the Vevue app.

“A lot of people aren’t familiar with blockchain, cryptocurrency, and bitcoin, but more and more people every day are gaining awareness of this technology that is—even without us knowing it—changing the world right now and really shaping the future,” Closshey states.

In order to view the film on the Vevue app, you can find token requests that are pinned at local theatres and other locations. It will give you the opportunity to complete the request, whether it be reviewing a movie or posting a video about how a theatre renovation looks, and once completed you gain Vevue tokens. You can use them to screen the film right on your mobile device. Closshey likened the app to a mixture between Pokémon Go and Yelp.

“Right now, people can earn one hundred Vevue tokens—which is cryptocurrency—just for reviewing the film,” Closshey informs. “Those tokens can be exchanged into a bitcoin tokens and more.”

Her awareness of this rapidly changing technology brought on this partnership with Vevue. With a world that’s growing in an age of social media, it’s important for films like No Postage Necessary to use tools that are available to them. It’s impressive when they look to use tools no one else has ever decided to use.

Closshey—story-teller, producer, actress, and innovator—has been a part of something that history will remember, and for that she earns a new title: phenomenal woman. Due to her awareness, intelligence, and compassion, she’s using her many titles to make waves in the film industry. Keep all eyes on her, and be sure to download Vevue so you can also be a part of this advancement in technology and film history.
